What's this blog about?
I love to talk; but even more
so, to write.
Written words have always been
my road to expression --- my art.
Even as a kid, I have found
comfort in writing down what I felt or what I was thinking. And it became a habit I could not get away from.
For years now, I have been walking
with my God. With it, I have been
writing our conversations. I want to
share some of those conversations with you --- what He is revealing to me, what
He is teaching me, and what I am becoming as I walk with Him daily.
My desire is that through opening
my heart to you, the Lord our God will minister to yours.
I started this blog in 2011,
when I first studied the book of Esther with a group of women in North
Carolina; thus the title, “the King’s daughter.” I wasn’t really thinking of myself as a
queen, like Esther, but more like a warrior princess (phrase from Beth Moore).
I was extremely blessed by the
study that I felt the longing to share through writing what God was showing
me. And from that time on, the blog has
evolved into something more personal. It
became my online journal; sharing my musings and my stories with my journey as
the King’s daughter.
So here I am, baring my soul to
the online world; but most importantly, baring my soul to my fellow warrior
princesses.
Who
am I?
I
am a teacher. Twelve years of being
one. Whew! And I love it! But I must admit I was one of those who didn’t
plan to pursue a career in teaching. I
never dreamed of becoming one. I didn’t
know it was what I was called to be. But
two years in, and I knew I am a teacher.
In
2005, I moved to Windsor, NC to teach Math to high school students. In 2009, I met my wonderful husband, Jason,
in China during a short-term mission trip.
In 2010, we got married in the Philippines, where I was originally from
and where Jason was living at the time. In
2011, I left my teaching career in North Carolina to move with my husband to
Krabi, Thailand obeying God’s call on our lives. (I know we have a crazy story. God definitely has a sense of humor. )
I
now teach English (and some Math and Science) to little Thai kids, while my
husband serves at a fairly new Christian fellowship in Ao Nang, Thailand (a
town about 20 minutes from where we live.)
I can’t swim, despite coming from a country with thousands of Islands and growing up in one. But I make up for it by loving beaches, lakes, rivers, and pretty much any body of water. I just make sure I have a life vest on. Haha! And I love rain!
I am big on books and movies. I definitely got that from my mama, who named me and my sister after book heroines she read about. Without her knowing, both our names are in the book of Job; and we are sisters there, too. How cool is that? It's in Job 42:14 (my sister's name is Kerenza).
So, there it is --- my life in a capsule. In retrospect, I can say without a doubt that God was written all over it. The seemingly disconnected events in my life slowly come together in a beautiful tapestry of love, grace, and mercy leading me to where I am right now with Him; and I stand in awe.
But the ink is far from dry. With full confidence in His faithfulness, I want Him to continue writing my story. I hope that you do, too.
Thanks so much for checking out my blog. I am super grateful that you dropped by. I hope you visit again. And please don't hesitate to comment, to ask questions, or to message me for prayer requests. I am most willing to hear what you want to share with me and to pray for you!
